A policy is not implemented because it was emailed or added to a handbook. It succeeds when employees understand the rule and managers can follow the required process under pressure.
Translate policy into action
Create procedures, forms, letters, checklists and approval routes. Managers need to know who does what and when.
Train with realistic scenarios
Use examples that reflect the workplace. Give managers practice applying the policy and recognising when to seek HR support.
