Employee engagement is the degree to which people feel committed to their work and their organisation — how motivated they are to do a good job and stay, beyond the minimum their role requires.
Engaged employees are more productive, deliver better customer experiences and are far less likely to leave. Disengagement, by contrast, is quiet and expensive — it shows up as minimum effort, absence and turnover.
Engagement is driven by things like recognition, growth opportunities, trust in leadership, and a sense that the work matters. It is usually measured with regular surveys (pulse or annual) and acted on, rather than measured once and filed away.
